Description

**PLUTO WAS ORIGINALLY PLANNED TO BE ONE OF THE THREE HEROIC AGE ROMAN GODS. AS OF 02/02/2017, HE HAS BEEN DROPPED IN ORDER TO BE REPLACED BY THE FORMER CLASSICAL AGE GODDESS FORTUNA.**

Pluto

God of the Underworld

Focus:  Ships and Buildings

Age: Heroic

Worship: Jupiter, Neptune

God Power
Aganippe: Generates a spring guarded by sirens that hypnotise individual enemy soldiers and slowly kills them. Can also be cast in water to generate a spring of mermaids effective at sinking naval units. Must be cast within your LOS. Can be destroyed by enemy attack.

Myth units
Mane: Manes are the wandering spirits of the dead brought back to protect your town. They have the ability to be instantly converted into myth heroes at a modest price.

Improvements
Bullet; Black Steam of Avernus: Engineers have +20% speed, +20% HP and can repair buildings at a lower cost.
Bullet; Black Corvus: Increases the HP of all ships by 22%
Bullet; Black Golden Bough: Buildings have +25% HP and -20% crush vulnerability (-25% for siege ships).

While Jupiter ruled the skies and Neptune ruled the seas, their brother Pluto was the supreme ruler of the underworld, the land of the dead. Formerly, he was known by many other names, such as Dis Pater and Orcus. During that time he was a cthonic god, meaning that he was power over ores and precious minerals of the land. Since these had to be mined, his journey for wealth led him to to the underworld where he took it upon himself to watch over the dead as Pluto. All who died would keep him company until it was their time to start a new life among the living.
Pluto is most famous for his unsympathetic abduction of the woman Persephone and her mother Ceres. Rumors say that it was actually Cupid and Venus who manipulated Pluto's emotions and motivated his actions. Despite having both women under his power, Pluto never had children.
Another story revolves around the lovers Orpheus and
Eurydice whose marriage ended tragically when Eurydice died after being bitten by a snake. Desperate to bring her back, Orpheus travels to the underworld and, after soothing Pluto with his music, begs him to let her go. Pluto, who thought about his love for his own wife, accepted the proposal on one condition: that Eurydice would travel behind Orpheus who would not look at her until they passed through the gate. Unfortunately, Orpheus, who was overwhelmed with passion, turned to her just as he was about to exit the underworld, only to see her be taken back to Pluto, never to be seen again.

***

The roman civilization depend heavily on the engineer to construct buildings and worshiping Pluto can help make them more efficient. By researching Steam of Avernus, the engineer can move to a construction site faster and can better defend itself if ambushed by an enemy. When also researching Golden Bough, a forward base becomes stronger and more likely to resist attacks itself. This especially gives you an edge in water based maps where all buildings become more resistant to ships and where your own ships become stronger.
Pluto is also good defensively. Along with having tougher buildings, you can invoke the Aganippe god power to further defend your base. Similar to Fides' Hippocrene god power, this spring has a lot of LOS. What sets it apart is that it has a special ability to lure enemy mortal units one by one and slowly deplete their HP while they stand idle. Once that unit dies, another one is instantly selected. This spring should not be cast into an enemy base as it can be easily destroyed if not protected.
Aganippe does benefit from building improvements, including Golden Bough, so make sure to make it as tough as possible because the spring cannot be repaired.
