Lyell-3 - Tree Tops

A view of the highest level of Lyell-3's global forest. You can see Lyell-3's signature trees aimed at the sunlight photosynthesizing with their partially frosted leaves. Binding them together is a strong vine-like plant, which reinforces the forest and keeps it from toppling over altogether. Although the vines can photosynthesize as well, they are primarily parasitic like the rafflesia, and feed one nutrients in the bark of the trees. They produce grains that small bird-like aliens feed on. Feeding in flight can be quite clumbsy and some seeds will fall down. Some will land in the leaves of the trees and sprout. Clinging onto the trunk, the vine grows as high as it can then spreads out to contribute to the cage.

On the leaf in the lower left corner stands an insectivore the size of a lizard. It is currently analyzing it surroundings as it hears the chant of the birds.
