Nighllies are fast 2 meter long herbivores that live in the warmest regions of Toci1 near the equator. They live mainly in the rock faces of the stone valleys, maintaining balance due to their long tail. Being one of the few animals on Toci1 with external ears, these provide additional balance as well as hearing. The flexibility of those ears allow them to narrow down on specific sounds.

Like the Lydians, Nighllies also have pearls to help them navigate, but those are located on their tails. Most Lydians have only one pearl, some have two and even less have been seen with three. The pearls are usually light red, but one individual was spotted with a blue pearl.

The presence of the pearls has been intruiging to explorers for a long time but the Nighlly may have given a clue to their presence. One Nighlly that narrowly escaped a predator was possibly bleeding from a cracked pearl after it struck a stone. It is possible that the entire skeleton of Nighlies, and perhaps of all Toci1 lifeforms, is made of Calcium Carbonate, the same material than makes up the shells and mantles of oysters on Earth. This would explain the white-pink color of their bones. If it were the case, it would make the bones of these animals toxic for consumption, at least for Earth's animals.

The pearls seem to grow from extremities in the spines and through the skin. They eventually form into a sphere and the navigation organs form inside the hollow ball.

"This animal is inspired by an african immigrant classmate from grade school, as well as african wildlife in general. The animal's teeth were modelled after that classmate's teeth."

FUN FACTS
:bulletred: Nighllies are hunted by Gorgosapiens for their pearls which are used for jewelry.
:bulletred: A Nighlly is black with yellow spots, ideal camouflage for a certain type of scaled tree with a similar color pattern
:bulletred: These animals do not have real fur, but a thick layer of dry skin that fall off in clumps. They are very greasy to the touch.
:bulletred: The teeth of Nighllies are leaf shaped.

Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.
