Toci1 - Gorgosapien

The Gorgosapiens (Terrible thoughts) are Toci-1's sentient natives. They have a greek name instead of a verb name because they were incorrectly thought to have been Geb7's inhabitants, while the Lacertacredos were Toci's inhabitants. The name was kept as it suited the natives all too well.

Gorgosapiens are barbarians, savages, monsters, you name it. They are slightly more advanced in intelligence than the Lacertacredos, with technology being almost equal as early African tribes on Earth. However, unlike the social culture of Africa, Gorgosapiens are short tempered, violent and xenophobic.

They hunt large quarry by slithering through the branches of trees, getting as close as quietly as possible. The attack on the other hand is messy, noisy and cruel. Using a variety of weapons made from trees, stones and bones, they hack madly at the animal's body, dismembering it alive. They then cheerfully bathe themselves in the carcass's blood and fight each other for the best pieces.

Gorgosapiens live in matriarch clans of up to 30 individuals with a head queen, hunters and scouts. Females are larger than males and command the attacks using the green feathers on their heads as means of signalization. They also get to eat first and are highly territorial. If any member of the clan steals food, attempts to join other clans or other clan members intrude a territory, it is capture and executed in a disturbing ritual.

The largest Gorgosapien encountered was a female measuring 9 metres long from forehead to the tip of her tail. The species evolved from aquatic snake-fish like creatures: a chart of the speculated evolution process was once drawn out in early stages of the planet's discovery but it was lost. What really puzzles scientists the most however is the creature's life cycle. Gorgosapiens are only supersized intelligent maggots. After about 20 years in that stage, they shed skin at a rapid rate and become encased in a large coccoon like structure. After a few months, the creature of the following link emerges: [link]

That's right, the mysterious creature is in fact the Gorgosapien's adult form. While Gorgosapiens are born purely carnivorous, the adults are herbivorous, a cycle similar to Wasps on Earth. After emerging from the coccoon, the adult Gorgosapien escapes into the wild to feed to plants. When pregnant, the female then hunts large herbivores again and paralyses them with venom from their fangs. She then lays her egg inside the body of the helpless animal who is soon eaten alive by the emerging young. While it feeds, tribes from all over seek the craddles in hopes of adopting the maggot into becoming a new member of the clan.

I would just like to mention that I chose to make these creatures very colorful to emphasize the fact that Toci-1 is a tropical planet covered in dense forests and jungles. Take note that some of the purple, black and red colors on the Gorgosapiens are actually painted markings to help the creature indentify itself in the clan.
